Richard Marshall who offered an insight into operational support at the RNZAF base in Whenuapai.
In opening, RBA President Jack Weir bid farewell to the association's foundation President,
Perry Scarfe, who returns to Australia in June to take up a new role.
Perry shared fond memories of his time with the RBA thanking everyone for "the good times"
and support. "I'm really proud of what we've started. It's great to see this idea really working.
It brings together a working community and enables us to share the successes as well
as problems associated with business in the area."
The Falls hosts shared their history and direction for the new-look venue
As former "Michael's" restaurant owner, Garry Bates and business partners Nina
and Alan Parry took over the restaurant four years ago.
Garry, also a chef, represented New Zealand at the World Culinary Olympics and has
cooked for royalty and government Ministers alike; Alan spent five years as head
waiter/manager at London's prestigious and fashionable Ivy restaurant; while the
restaurant's Chef, Nina, completed her apprenticeship at Michaels before going on
to work for a number of Britain's A-listers.
The first-class setting inspired the owners to bring a quality dining experience and
award-winning menu to West Auckland.
The kitchen team has now achieved the "New Zealand Beef and Lamb Hallmark of Excellence"
many times over and won the "Gold Plate" award for four years running.
Speeches were followed by talented music duo, Switch, who have shared the stage with many
top musicians in New Zealand. Overall, this historic venue provided the background for a
wonderful evening with fine wines, excellent food and great music.
