Michael J Rowland
Michael was born 1949 in Hertfordshire, England. Michael's family moved to New Zealand when he was young.
After leaving school Michael completed a Diploma of Graphic Art in 1968 at A.I.T. Auckland and worked in the graphics department for the T.V.N.Z. Newsroom.
Michael came to realize his passion lay with painting and it was from 1970 to 1973 that he completed a Diploma of Fine Art at Elam. From this time Michael worked in the restoration Department for the Auckland City Art Gallery whilst painting at night.
Michael has completed some challenging and exciting commission work including a large stage facade mural for the Nambassa Music Festival, large panel murals for the Future of Auckland exhibit at the Auckland War Memorial Museum and an interior mural for Progressive Music Recording Studios,
His first solo exhibition was held in a basement gallery in Auckland's ‘K' Road.
He is now a full time, award winning painter exhibiting throughout New Zealand in both solo and group shows.
