"I’ll admit that a leisurely Sunday brunch is often the first thing to go when budgets are stretched, but a visit to The Falls will surely make you reconsider. The delicious coffee, (sometimes complete with creative froth art) the historic surrounds, the fantastic food and the impeccable service will make sure it becomes a habit you can’t give up. Alan and the team at the Falls are that perfect mix of being attentive without overbearing, friendly without being overly friendly, and charming without being insincere.

The proof is in the accolades – voted West Auckland’s number one restaurant in 2008, 2009 and 2010, the team obviously prides itself on its consistently high standards.  I’ve become such a regular on Sunday mornings that I wave away the menu these days – an Eggs Florentine and a trim flat white, thanks! I’m never disappointed by the perfectly poached eggs, crispy bacon and just the right amount of Hollandaise. Otherwise, I can occasionally be swayed by the mini pancakes – the fluffy pancakes and tasty accompaniments will always give your table mates plate envy.

If it’s a wine after work you’re looking for, the wine list is suitably impressive too. Cosy fires roar in the dining room in the winter months too, making it the perfect excuse to emerge from the house.

Make sure you book ahead for a table, it’s definitely a hot-spot during the weekends and I’m sure they’d hate to have to turn you away.
